Gary is such a wonderful person and his lilac gardens are a special place. Visit anytime, but be sure to call in advance around April to see when the lilacs will be in bloom.

Wonderful displays of many, MANY different lilacs that the very knowledgeable owner, Gary Parton, has grown. You can walk through the large property and view and smell all the blumes when it's open to the public. You can even purchase gallon and 5 gallon plantings that are for sale. Worth the time to visit and it's free!

Gary was so wonderful and informative. The grounds are beautiful but as of May 20th 2022, there are very few blooms left. Gary told us that he doesn’t think it’s worth it for anyone to come out but without a website or anything else, it’s hard for him to communicate this. He suggested calling April 1st of next year and he will give a good estimate for prime bloom viewing weekends. You can also call, leave a message and he will call you back! Worth a visit, but perhaps not until next year.

If the fragrance of lilacs pulls you into a trance, you swoon at the color purple with traces of blue and pink, then Alpenglow Lilac Gardens is a must visit. Gary Parton grows over 300 lilac bushes in this amazing garden. Best to visit in late April thru May to enjoy the profusion of blooms. We left with 3 new varieties to plant, just wish we had more yard to plant more lilacs.

We didn't catch the lilacs in full bloom but still enjoyed the grounds. Well worth a trip to check out while in Idyllwild.

The smell of all the lilacs hits as soon as you open your car door. The gardens are amazing very beautiful!
