Melisa Sheldon is great. She is patient, understanding, and experienced. She is excellent at relating to things I am going through and provides practical advice and honest perspective. She is also the most thorough therapist I have had. She is quick to provide a resource or recommendation which I appreciate.

As a new patient, I’m not that impressed. First and foremost she’s not local and new to FL. She has zero connection to the local community which means zero help when asking about local resources. That’s not to say she’s a bad therapist, she may be a great one in NJ, but here the locals need better.

The final straw was when I booked an appointment two weeks out, because I already had a few doctors appointments the following week and somehow she booked me for the following week. I didn’t realize it. I’ve been very busy and hadn’t read emails and I get a call that I was missing an appointment. OK if it was my fault, but I already had two doctors appointments that week. There’s no way I would schedule an appointment in the same week. My employer would fire me. And for this, I was charged $100 (which is $80 over my insurance copay). I understand about rules and no-show charges, but this was 100% not my fault.

Sadly, this is the second reason I’m leaving this therapist. I was giving her a chance, but after two visits, leaving feeling worse than I walked in, I knew this was not the therapist for me. My previous Therapist (she’s my previous because she moved employers and wasn’t taking new patients yet) made me feel better when I left and gave me tools and local contacts and connections when I left, and that is a good therapist!!!

And there is no need to respond as I dont want to hear excuses of why you had to charge me $100 and all about your policies and procedures!! Blah blah blah

Melisa possesses all the attributes one looks for in a counselor. Attentive and caring for the patient and their unique needs. You’re never made to feel rushed or dismissed. She listens to help, and helps to listen. I can’t recommend her more highly.
