I had a great experience with CAMH at the Lesley Lane house. Going to groups daily to emotionally process trauma and have check ins was very helpful and gave me the tools and resources needed to succeed. The therapist on site did an amazing job at ensuring we had someone to talk with whenever we were struggling and the group outings were motivating to get me out of the house. I’d highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking to gain tools for their mental health, and manage their symptoms.

I recently left California Mental Health, and I encourage anyone struggling with their mental health to consider going here. I went in with a darkness surrounding me and came out with the tools to change that darkness into light. One of the staff told me that I would come out of the program transformed, and I didn’t believe her at first. However, after sticking with it, I did just that.

I attended daily groups, weekly individual sessions, and weekly psychiatric sessions. I became someone who could accept and move forward from my trauma, be more authentic, and know who I truly was. It was a hard and emotional journey, and it was the journey I needed to heal the inner child in me that had been screaming out. I had 24/7 support and the team went out of their way to ensure I felt comfortable. It is a challenge for me to feel safe in medical settings, and I felt safe.

The team was amazing in every sense! Jeannie, the executive director, goes beyond her work role and desires to understand each person seeking treatment. She will advocate for you, meet you where you are at, and bring light and joy to any room she joins you in. Jeannie was a large part of my recovery when I was there, and she is one of the kindest and most empathetic people I have met. She took me in and gave me hope.

My therapist and I were a great match for each other. I came in thinking I had all of the knowledge and that she wouldn’t be able to find a solution either. However, she taught me to be human before my work role and to feel my feelings. I needed to stop ruminating on the why and move towards acceptance and freedom. The way we worked through my trauma, anxiety, and depression was life-changing.

My case manager helped me with any little detail I needed to make sure the external stressors were taken care of. Disability, doctors appointments, employment needs, discharge plan, etc. She also lead groups in depth yet we had fun as well. She would often join us at the table and make the environment a peaceful place.

All of the BHTs and healthcare staff supported me emotionally and were always checking in to make sure I was doing okay. Each person had their own personality, and it was nice to feel like I was “at home” rather than in a facility.

This was my first residential experience, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. It was sad to leave, but I knew I was glowing through my healing. I wanted to give the space to the next person who needed their support. If you are struggling, please reach out to them. They helped me, and they can help you too. It truly felt like a home to me and that’s quite rare.

My name is Valarie, and im a trans-fem woman, who is currently homeless. Not only has CMH helped me so much with my mental health struggles, and helping me reach my 1 year of sobriety- they have helped with my transition too. Jeannie has helped me with my personal items i need, but the ones that also help with my transition. My case manager has been working countless hours with me, for my needs, but also showing me the mothers love i never had. My therapist is super open minded, and i love her group sessions. She is helping me discover who i am, and where i want to go, and what i want to do in life. Im still early in my transition, about 5 months, but they have also told me the confirmation of how much ive changed, both mentally and physically, assuring me i will make a beautiful woman; and that i AM a beautiful woman. The food here is immaculate, and im Pasc-veg and the chef makes special meals for me. With my eating disorder, they have helped me with eating that yummy & specially made food, with someone i trust. Assuring me that there is nothing wrong with eating, or me.. and lastly, i need glasses, but mine broke- jeannie made sure to get me to an appointment, and not only helped with my co-pay cost, but also bought my frame! I also now have gender affirming clothes, AND that are sensory friendly, since they helped clothe me. And my meds are changed too, helping me stay regulated, happy, and content.

My heart goes out to everyone at CMH, for helping me change my life for the better!

California Mental Health has been a wonderful experience in my recovery. Top notch programming that covers everything from interactive groups that not only teach me about how our brains are dialed but allow others to share their experiences and struggles with their mental health. I have enjoyed working with my counselor who helps me with anything I need in the program. My one on one sessions with my therapist have been meaningful and have helped in my physical as well as emotional sobriety. I am now living life with a sense of authenticity and am able to be present both in good times and bad times. I can’t say enough in terms of how CMH has helped me put myself back together.

The program here was pivotal to my mental health journey. The staff here are caring, kind, considerate and go the extra mile to make you feel supported. They are genuinely committed to their clients well-being.

The approach to treatment here is comprehensive, and includes individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, and therapeutic recreational activities such as yoga, sound meditation, and equine therapy.

The facilities are absolutely stunning. The house is situated on a large lot with a beautiful backyard, perfect for bird watching with a cup of tea. There are several areas in the house for lounging and recreation. The bedrooms are well outfitted and comfortable.

Throughout my time at CAMH, I felt cared for, seen and valued. I came out of the program with the tools to continue my mental health journey. I can't say enough good things about this program.

CAMH changed my life and I have been wanting to review as well as spread the word about them. CAMH team has cared for me even more than my own family ever did.

What I had, I had no idea as the physical symptoms were not describable under any category of illness. The first day and time I talked to CAMH coordinators, they heard me and assured me that what I had was identifiable and curable. From that day on, the personal and group therapy has been there for me for my panic attacks, psycho-somatic issues, depression and there by identifying any PTSD and other causes which had caused those issues. They have worked methodically to cure me and they didnt leave my hand when I lost my job. They understood my needs as it was their own. So, I not only recommend therapy in general but especially through CAMH.

They have done wonders for me and I am sure for all the other peers who I have seen using it.
