I definitely would not recommend this therapist for any type of therapy as it relates to children. I really should have listened to the other one star reviews from her past customers, because we had the same issues with this therapist as they did. First off there was no proper in-take done during the first appointment. Carleen allowed my ex and I to debate in a small room with the children present about various issues along with Mrs. Braunns quoting the 50/50 shared parenting law to me, which was never up for debate. While I as attempting to let Mrs. Braunns know about overall concerns I had with the children as it relates to their behavior, my ex cut me off and she just sat there as if she was amused. I finally just stopped talking because I realized this was going nowhere fast. I really should have let be the last appointment, but since therapy was my idea in the first place I figured I would give her a try. I was never asked to join any of the 4 other sessions she had with the kids and/or their other parent, nor was I given an update on how the sessions were going, I was just told by her when asked "the children were a delight" . I honestly trusted Mrs. Braunns, but she turned out to be a very verdictive person that did not have any valid records of the sessions and made an opinion after 4-45 minute sessions. She even had the nerve to testify to it in court without any facts or notes, and she made several false claims, not not sure if she just did not remember but she surely did not tell the facts! She did not even remember the first date of the initial session or who made the appointment for the children, so she lied and said it was me, when I wasn't even the one with the insurance that paid her for her services what a joke! Listen when I tell you to make another choice for a therapist for your family BELEIVE ME! I really wish I had, now my children are worst off then they were and we are in the process of finding a new therapist. It really seems Mrs. Braunns has an agenda when dealing with cases involving children and their parents, not all three of her past clients can have the same experience and there not be some substance to it. All I can say is enter at your own risk & listen to your instinct.

I have been seeing Carleen for over a year now and she is by far one of the best therapists that I have ever had the opportunity to meet. She has many years of experience with different styles of therapy under her belt and is wonderful working with those that are truly ready to work on their issues and make progress in their lives. If you are not ready to look in the mirror and do real work on yourself, this is not the therapist for you.

If I could provide less than one star, I would. Similarly to what another reviewer provided, Carleen does not take the time to include all parents. As a children’s counselor, she should also understand the average parent works until 5pm. In addition, she is unwilling to do anything later so that all parties can be present. That’s not even the crux of all of it though. She does not factor children’s ages; my kids are 10, 12 and nearly 16; she uses words like “Daddy”, instead of Dad, which made my kids uncomfortable. Then there’s the other aspect that she does not remain neutral or objective, which is crucial as a counselor and/or therapist. The last straw was when her ego was at the forefront. I am there to help support my kids, and have taken on a lot of responsibility for my kids with events that have transpired. At the beginning of a session, I’m immediately met with the question from Carleen, “The kids tell me you don’t want them to see me anymore?” Number one, if you are going to ask that question, pull me aside privately; don’t launch a personal attack in front of my kids. Secondly, it was a gross manipulation of information, being as that my decision in my kids not continuing with her is that my kids have told me multiple times that they feel uncomfortable with her. I agree because she comes across patronizing. My kids are older and articulate, and they are more than capable of expressing their feelings. They struggled to find her relatable, and they continued to feel like she spoke down to them, like they were toddlers. On top of it, I have been co-parenting well with my children’s step-mother, but Carleen attempted everything possible during the session to create undue tension. It was inappropriate and extremely unprofessional. Then the icing on the cake, is despite her seeing my kids for months, she couldn’t even get my 12 year old’s name correct; she continued to call him the incorrect name even after my correcting her. Bottomline, I suspect she needs to retire because a counselor should help alleviate and facilitate improvement. She is egocentric and had the opposite effect. Needless to say, we will be going with a different counselor. My kids deserve someone with more empathy, logic, care and relatability. She does not consider my kids’ feelings with the type of vindictive behavior she displayed. Further, my end goal is to ensure that my kids have a voice and words are not put into their mouths like Carleen did. It is unfortunate, but ultimately, I will do whatever it takes to find a counselor who is much more equipped to help my kids.

Carlene Braunns has been counseling my son for a couple of years his father has alienated our son from me for 7 years he is only 8. Me. Braunns never once attempted to contact me for my consent for treatment of my son or to get a background and history of his family. She has now been court order to discuss with me all the treatment and counseling she has provided my son and is completely ignoring an order from the judge. She will not return my emails or my phone calls and refused to discuss my child with me. She is aiding in the abuse of my child and not properly treating him for his true issues. I would strongly recommend not using her. She is clearly unprofessional and ok with the ongoing abuse of my son.
