My first visit there was a train wreck, the lady at the front (older one) was very rude and didn’t even know how to read my insurance. She had me in a panic thinking my visit was going to cost me 270 dollars when I have a 15 dollar copay.

On the next visit the same lady talked down at me when I had cash. I told her it’s because it helps me with my budget.

After much thought and consideration, I decided to write this, in case others have been treated unjustly and need a voice.

My therapist was fine, nothing of merit. However, when I was evaluated by the APN, I couldn’t believe the lack of empathy she showed toward me. After that and the lady and the front counter, I found another therapy center that actually has evaluated me in a professional, psychiatric way.

Please advocate for yourself and do not let anyone treat you less than.

I just wanted to express my thanks for Jennifer Embry. She’s been my therapist for almost two years and has helped tremendously. She is very attentive and makes me feel listened to, unlike other counselors have. I wouldn’t be where I am right now without her (and my doctor). I’m very fortunate to have had Jennifer as my therapist.

Great group of people, couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. The front office staff are so kind and helpful, and the therapists are top tier. Highly recommend for anyone needing mental health support 🙂

Worse therapists

The first lied about nearly everything. I only found out originally because the psychiatrist brought up changing my medication pretty randomly. He said that I had some serious changes in my chart and told me. They were wild accusations. I started correcting them with another therapist at the clinic. But it took weeks with just them, and even longer elsewhere. Eventually these lies actually cost me my disability case, with this therapist's notes cited specifically as their reasoning.

Then there was a therapist who claimed to be specializing in dbt. A few appointments were fine then one day he started making suicide jokes. At the end of that session he said that he was surprised I hadn't fallen in love with him yet because "girls with bpd always fall for their therapist." I did not see him again.

Better therapist

There was the one who was unimpactful in every way. She offered lotion and deep breathing, write in your diary and all that. That was it. No guidance, no advice, not even really good for venting to. She was very nice and I left feeling better at the appointment time but with little to help me outside of the appointment itself. Usually it was because of irrelevant conversation that made me forget things for a moment, which is good for some people, but not what I wanted from therapy.

Another was alright but often the appointments just went along the lines of printing a paper for both of us, reading it out loud, and asking how I related. It felt like she was treating it like an appointment with a small child. It was things I already knew too, I've been in therepay most of my life, I know what logical fallacies are. But it meant we didn't get around to things I actually wanted to talk about, like situations actually affecting me at the time. It was fine I suppose.

I would give two stars except there was nothing done when I brought up what happened with the worse therapists. The main office had no idea about it when I called to make sure complaints had been brought up.
