Beware! He's the worst counselor/therapist I've ever gone to. My children's father (soon-to-be ex-husband) and I were going for marriage/couples counseling. Daniel Burke is very rude, disrespectful, condescending, and is not impartial in the least. He let my children's father into the session on the platform Daniel had us use for the counseling sessions prior to letting me in. When he finally let me in, which was about 5 minutes into our counseling session, he did not even acknowledge that I was present. He ignored me and both he and the father of my children were being so chatty together. Needless to say, that was my last counseling session with this so-called MFT counselor/therapist. Don't waste your money on him. I have been going to my MFT counselor whom I used to go to when I was pursuing my four-year degree at CSUB, which I ended up graduating in four years with cum laude honors, B.A. in Communications and Sociology.
My MFT counselor is the best. She's amazing, just the way she was back then at the CSUB Counseling Center. She's had her private practice ever since she was at the CSUB Counseling Center years ago when I was pursuing my Bachelor's degree. Please, please don't waste your hard-earned money on Daniel Burke. Those sessions with him were a complete waste of time. They did not help my family (my kids and me) at all.

We sought help with our teenager's substance abuse problem. I was impressed by Mr. Burke's range of experience and credentials. We really liked our first appointment with Mr. Burke, although the appointment was in the middle of the school day. The second appointment went well, although he apologized for not having his appointment book and advised us to text him the next day. I texted him twice over the next week. He finally returned my message, wanting to schedule an appointment at noon on a school day. I then asked for an appointment later in the afternoon. Several days later Mr. Burke responded via text message, stating that he would no longer be able to treat my teenager. I asked if we could discuss the matter over the phone. He replied that he would call me at a specific time the following evening. Mr. Burke never called nor texted me again and never replied to additional text messages from me.

Daniel Burke has been the most effective therapist I've ever used in 40yrs. His engaging demeanor and open non-judgmental approach to exploring my issues has given me the safe and reassuring environment I need to do the work. I highly recommend him.

Updated review

I originally left a review and had it at five stars but after careful consideration, I have decided to update this. As a therapist, it is very important that you act professionally and appropriately. It is not appropriate to yell at your clients or talk down to them. Respect and self control are very important when dealing with vulnerable and traumatized people. With that being said, I do not recommend this therapist.

Called and left a message, but never got a reply.

Update. I got a text back a week later. Better late than never I guess.
