Update 10/2024: because of this whole ordeal we took our child to a behavioral therapist because we were concerned despite this not being an issue elsewhere. Our child was evaluated and our child’s behavior was deemed AGE APPROPRIATE and NORMAL. They DO NOT recommend any behavioral therapy for our child. They concluded that she needed more time to adjust and that she was not given the appropriate structure at that school to succeed in the time she was there.

9/2024: The school seems great and well structured, but unless you have a child with near perfect behavior, has an extremely good temperament, can manage their emotions AND be well adjusted to a new setting/routine in 4 or less weeks well this is not the school for them as they have a zero tolerance for a ill behavior (which is typical when completely changing a young child’s routine).

Of course, as parents we try our best to instill good behavior and work hard to correct whatever may be the issue but some have forgotten that they are just children who have been on the earth a minimal amount of time and are still learning about their emotions and behaviors and are not able to express what they are feeling, process and comprehend their emotions as fast as we would like. We were expected to have our child do a complete flip in behavior in less than a months time. Behavior that was new to us and brought on since attending this school.

Also, we have been told before and afterschool staff are NOT educated/trained in dealing with unwanted behaviors. Resulting in them giving up on our child within 4 weeks despite active communication and efforts to improve this new unwanted behavior.

It seems that they go off of a very “one size fits all” approach and if one child needs a little more help I’ve been told they do not have the resources to do that which is unfortunate.

Our child did enjoy the short amount of time at the school and was ready and excited to return daily but due to the inability of the staff and lack of understanding we had to unfortunately withdraw attendance there.

I love Rushton! It has the highest credentials available for childcare centers, and the teachers truly love the children who attend. My nine month old daughter started at just ten weeks old, and you can imagine the anxiety leaving a little baby with strangers. These “strangers” have become family, and have helped me through the ebbs and flows (the good days, the bad days, and the ugly days) of being a new mom. I am grateful for this place every single day. The administration and teachers are quick to respond to my questions and always make me feel confident leaving my child in their very competent hands. I cannot say enough great things about this Center, its administration, and its staff! The other parents are great too!

If your looking for a child care center for your child that's in the downtown area, I would definitely recommend Elizabeth Perry Rushton! I can't say enough good things about the teachers and staff. My daughter has been going there for over 2 years now and really seems to enjoy going there. As she's gotten older, she's been moving up to the next class which has allowed me to meet and get to know several of the teachers at Rushton and I can say they are all great! They really seem to care for the wellbeing of my daughter and want to see her learn and grow, which as a working mom I really appreciate. I also love how convenient the center is to many of the downtown businesses. It allows me the opportunity to come and see my daughter during the day or when they have parties and it's encourage by the teachers to join in. Another great thing about Rushton is that they offer cameras to check up on your child throughout the day.

We've had our little one enrolled at EPR since she was eight weeks old and we've had an extremely positive experience. From the teachers to the support staff, everyone is genuine and caring. I recommend EPR any time I get the chance, because it's sincerely a lovely place.
