I went for a couple months and their”by the book” procedures were unhealthy for me as I was made to bring back tragedies and bad experiences and memories, I had to talk about these past events while following a blinking light. This made me return home sad and angry, especially at people involved in these historic situations of my life , causing more turmoil with my family. Then my daughter ended up counseling with a different counselor so we’re not seeing the same person but on 2 occasions returned home also sad and angry and vengeful, but this is a minor, and any acting out would result in consequences like taking away cellphone or car keys. Unfortunately, her counselor gave options and advice on leaving her parents home(runaway) or telling her parents should not punish or discipline?!?! She also, changed my child’s whole mindset on college plans and steered her in moving farther away to a totally different choice of school, we had already filed grants and scholarships with dads retirement and veterans benefits, and now my child is taking back applications to be redone?! In those past experiences her counselor tried to get authorities to take spouse to jail and another time had options open to admit our child to a home for troubled teens. In online investigation, these were teens doing worse like running away for long periods of time, drugs, slicing up body, suicide attempts, and actual violent and non violent crimes. I refused the home for teens as my teen is not out of control,but depressed. I don’t appreciate counseling to destroy family and cause worse situations then we already have, but what am I to do if talk therapy is wanted and needed for the teen patients or even adults?
