I don’t typically write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. It has been two months since I started therapy with Carrie De Souza at Genesis Counseling, and I am incredibly grateful for her caring and compassionate approach. Carrie is both knowledgeable and intuitive, which has made a significant difference in my journey.

Since I began working with her, I can feel an improvement in my mental health, and it’s a reminder of how vital mental health is—just as important as physical health. I am deeply disappointed with our recent experience at this therapy practice. My daughter was attending play therapy for two months, and we initially loved the therapist and found her approach helpful. However, during one of the sessions, we were informed that the therapist was going to seek guidance from her supervisor due to concerns about not seeing enough change in my daughter. It’s important to note that major changes don’t happen overnight—especially in just 8 sessions. I had observed positive progress in my daughter, which I shared in those sessions.

After what turned out to be our last session, I received an unexpected call from the supervisor, who informed me that we needed to meet with her to find someone better suited for my child. While I want the best support for my child, this came as a shock, as it wasn’t discussed during the session—only a request for guidance was made. The supervisor provided little clarity during the call, instead asking me to find a time in her schedule for further discussion.

This entire situation has been unacceptable and extremely frustrating, especially since my child continues to ask when she will be able to play with her therapist again. It’s disheartening to see rapport built with a young child only for the relationship to be abruptly cut off without proper communication or consideration.

I hope by sharing my experience, it helps prevent this from happening to others.
