Dr. Cummings is effective and produces results. He listens well and goes at a pace that makes the person feel comfortable. He is patient yet professional and caring. He asks for patient input and wants feedback along the way. All the staff there are professional and caring. I would highly recommend Dr. Cummings and Heartland Counseling Center. Steve K

I used to see Dr.Allison in Kindelan McDanal & Associates for a full year, and had an appointment with him in Heartland a year or so ago. (The phone operators here are very nice). Dr.Allison is a friendly guy, and I'm glad he wasn't trigger-happy with the Baker Act which would have absolutely made me off myself at the time, but I wish he had stuck up for the power of his faith, because I didn't even know he was a Christian. I was an atheist all my life and because I was never told about how reading the Bible can give you massive hope (even if you don't believe at first and have to force yourself to read from Genesis to Revelation!) I ended up trying 7 different therapists, several medications, an IV ketamine clinic, and event flew to another country to legally try psychedelic therapy. They all helped for a while, but the depression always came back worse, and I wasted thousands of dollars. The last treatment I tried was Prozac, which sent me into a mania that made me crash my car and get sent to a psych ward in 2022 (which are worse than prison, by the way!)
I am so thankful that I was given a Bible while I was locked up and found Jesus. Ephesians 6:10-18. Venting in therapy may make you feel better, but it won't actually solve the root of your problems in my opinion.

Heartland Counseling and Mr. Brooks have been amazing, I started coming here in July of 2020 shortly after my mother passed away, and in the nearly two years that I have been coming they have always been very welcoming and caring to whatever your needs maybe at the time. With the help of Mr. Brooks I was able to truly figure out what I wanted to do in my life career wise and personally. His guiding but not in your face approach made it easy for me to figure out for myself what it is exactly I want without any outside influences. While my visits wont be nearly as regular I will always be thankful for Mr. Brooks’s help and understanding while being under his care.

A close family member of ours started seeing them in the fall of 2021 based on the referral from a local pastor. This person was very anti-doctor & certainly opposed any type of counseling or psychologist. He went for an initial consultation then got on schedule for regular appointments. I can't begin to tell you the respect & admiration I have for Ms. Kim Picha & the team here. The fact that they got through to this person, essentially a stone wall vault & things went well enough for them to continue speaks volumes about their compassion, care & ability to communicate. I will absolutely recommend their center to others.

I was seeing Sabrina Stratton September 2023 and it was not good. Very vague, and she gave me a paper with coping mechanisms that were pretty terrible in my opinion. I did not return.

I was baker acted for suicidal thoughts and self harm and the second I got out my mom got me an appt with Dr Brinton. I was with her before and trusted her but that day she was saying that my suicidal thoughts etc were an act out of anger and that suicide is very selfish and she hopes I learned my lesson. I went out of that office in tears feeling worse than better and that was a place I was supposed to feel comfortable to reveal my thoughts and feelings. Maybe a few weeks after that the conversation would be fine but the day right after you get out of the hospital is absolutely terrible and very rude. I now see a wonderful counselor Dr Marshall who has helped me through it and coping with emotions and my anger and for a whole week now I haven’t had any relapse and can say I finally feel happy.
