Having Shelly as my counselor has been such a blessing! She helped me during a dark moment in my life. She was able to help me pin point the areas in my life that I needed to analyze in order to step into the next season in my life with God. Her office is very cozy and welcoming for both adults and children 🙂

As someone who sought solace and guidance, my recent experience with Shelley left much to be desired. From the onset, it became apparent that boundaries were not her strong suit. Instead of creating a safe space, she inundated my session with unnecessary personal anecdotes, oversharing details of her own life that seemed irrelevant and intrusive.

Moreover, her bias tainted our discussion. It felt as though she had preconceived notions about certain topics, leading to dismissiveness and a lack of empathy. When attempting to discuss sensitive subjects, her responses were surface-level, almost as if it were inconvenient to address.

In therapy, vulnerability should be met with compassion and understanding. However, I found myself questioning whether I was being truly heard or merely categorized based on her biased assumptions. The lack of genuine engagement with my concerns left me feeling invalidated and unheard.

One particularly egregious moment occurred when she declared that fellow participants, present in the room, were not going to change. This statement was not only disheartening but also contradictory to the principles she purported to uphold. As a self-proclaimed Christian counselor, one would expect an acknowledgment of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Yet, her dismissive assertion suggested otherwise. Where was the belief in the potential for growth and redemption? Where was the accountability for fostering an environment conducive to change and healing? After all, is her practice not called, “Hope and Healing Christian Counseling?”

Instead of fostering a supportive community grounded in empathy and mutual respect, Shelley perpetuated an atmosphere of resignation and futility. At the conclusion of my group session, it was very evident that my time spent here was time wasted.

I was a skeptic when it came to counseling since I have had negative results from secular counseling in the past. But having the understanding through biblical guidance has made such an amazing difference on my daily, & prayer life. I feel like I'm becoming the best wife, mom and daughter God's created me to be. Shelly is amazing!! ? I highly recommend Hope & Healing..I definitely feel like that's exactly what I've received!!! HOPE & HEALING ❤️
