My daughter attended this school for 2 years. At first it seemed normal, but as the couple of years went by, my child was exhausted. The lunch is terrible, and my child and her peers sometimes can’t even eat. From what I have heard, most of the teachers are really nice and understanding. But they do have favorites. My child and most of her history class in 8th grade, was terrible for her. She couldn’t take it, and she was so ready to leave by the end of the year. Her history teacher favorited some students and treated other like garbage. My daughter was one of the students treated poorly. Whenever she would come home from school, she would be very upset, even crying telling me that her history teacher hates her and she is being yelled at for no reason. My daughter is a good kid and she wouldn’t do anything too rash to make her teacher so upset with her. She told me that a few of her friends were treated the same way, but her other peers weren’t. I notice that the kids who were being mistreated were colored, and most the students who were treated nicely were white. My child is Hispanic. The teacher even made her fill out 2 CIR’s and when she respectfully asked what the reasons was he told her to sit own and fill it out. The teacher would always change the subject. When my daughter gave the teacher the CIR back, he yelled at her saying that the reason she got a CIR was because she was being ā€œdisruptiveā€. There were so many other kids in the class being disruptive and he did not care. There were other things that had happened in that classroom but that is just one think I will talk about. Other than that, I believe that the dress code is not necessary. Plus, most of the administrators are rude.

Listen this school isn't the worst even if people make it out to be. The teachers I'll admit do need a bit more work on communication and understanding. The school lunch provided isn't awesome. But it's better than liberty ( which has a lot of fights). The people at Horizon are slightly better , but that slim to none chance helps a lot for you to go further in the school year.

It’s a good middle school but you get CIRs way too easily. Also we have literally the same thing for lunch everyday so it gets boring after a while. But overall, great teachers/staff and students

This school was good at first until you get targeted by teachers. The teachers at this school act so Much like the kids that it’s hard to tell them apart. As soon as your in the teachers line of fire you will get in trouble for pretty much anything. I do feel bullied by the teachers and not comfortable just being me around them. I’ve had more problems with them than the students over things being blown out of proportion, name calling, openly gossiping about students and outburst of personal matters. I don’t want to go here anymore and I don’t feel safe at all. If your child has any disorder or mental issue like depression, ADHD, anxiety, and Autism I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU DO MOT LET THEM GO HERE. Trying to explain that you have these thing is just excuses for the school.

This is a terrible school that you should not send your kids to, the teachers lack communication skills and love to Antagonize kids which leads up to a referral and they often do lie about things but the dean never belived the students no matter what you say. I’ve attended this school 4 years and only met two teachers that aren’t ignorant. These ā€œrole modelsā€ have no decorum especially the deans and principals, I was in 5th grade going down to student services to get my referral, and walked in on the dean vaping in her office she didn’t have enough respect for her students to wait till she got home or at least her lunch brakešŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø.There was another incident where she was giving my 7th grade friend a referral for saying the N-word, but then went on a rant saying,ā€white people should be able to say the N-wordā€and said it with the er, we are just kids and she shouldn’t be having these conversations in school and we already have the world to deal with this racism but our own teachers man. I’m probably gonna get a referral for writing this to but I’m just speaking my truth.

So far my child has been singled out by one particular teacher, with out even communicating with her she sent her to dicipline after being late due to her comming to school after a dentist appointment, and my daughter knocking on her door for three minutes. I purchased uniforms within regulation they called me because they said her pants were stretchy! Most of the material you find have at least a little stretch to them plus they told me to read page 4 where it states that. No where does it state anything about how specific the material is to be. This all from one teacher. My daughter has never had issues like this to be singled out and bullied by one teacher is unprofessional. The dress code is way to strict. They need to be able to let our children stay in class. They are missing out on learning opportunities due to their wardrobe. My daughter waited in dicipline her whole class period! Something needs to change. Also you cant get in touch with anyone at the school. I have called and left several messages.

I don't know which of these reviews are real and which ones are posers but if I can help any parents I will. I know how children can be, mother of 4 but what I've been hearing of late is this school is Terrible. You've got alot of bullying. Alot of unfair dicrimination in all kinds of ways black/white male/female rich/poor even bullying from Teachers themselves. Petty petty petty school administrators. Cafeteria food is of the poorest quality most children refuse to even eat . I must add they're a few names are consistently being brought to my attention as most cherished teachers that I am grateful for. Mr. Allison, Mcnall, Mr Hughes (who no longer attends) Mr Vergano whom my boys Rave about. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME AND GIVE THEM RAISES. They're are a few more I'm sure maybe my children haven't had their classes yet. The biggest complaint is the other students behavior, cruelty bulling and self entitlement Please be warned about this school.

Awesome cause I go there and have straight A's and there is no bullying just kids having fun which is what kids do. Also, some teachers are kinda bad, but you get used to them throughout the year.
