The greatest stars are those that shine for the benefit of others. Words are powerless to express my gratitude. Joel has taught me so many things! I don’t have the space here to recount it all. He is in a few words, the ideal therapist. Joel is someone you can fully trust; honest and compassionate. He shows warmth and acceptance, empathy, and a focus on you. His willingness to establish an alliance and a partnership is what makes his practice so effective. He has a great ability to develop a balance between realism and hope. Though he is obviously the expert, you feel that the he cares about your goals in therapy and is willing to work with you to set goals that we will both agree on. Instead of playing the role of expert, he strives to be an authentic person, someone with whom you feel comfortable enough to be open and self-revealing. He constantly inspires you to think that you can get better and shows great respect for your gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or cultural background. Joel has a brilliant ability to provide an explanation of your symptoms and can adapt this explanation as circumstances change. He is very skilled in helping you reconnect with yourself. Like an artist, he is sensitively attuned to your real feelings, qualities, and priorities. He just makes you feel like you're in good hands. Thanks for putting up with me for so long. You have been a miraculous mentor and I am forever grateful for the generosity you have shown me. Thank you for being a wonderful friend, for your support, advice. It has actually been about 11 or 12 years since I have seen him but I have recently began considering therapy for my 14 year old daughter and he is the person I thought of first to help her as I know tbat he will. I am calling him on Monday, first thing in the morning. 😀
