Dr. Amanda has truly changed our family. We have tried several difference counselors/therapists over the years to help my pre-teen on the spectrum with his emotion regulation. It was a daily struggle that resulted in countless hours of screaming meltdowns no matter what we tried and we felt like we were barely holding it together. With his autism, we never knew what to allow (because it was beyond his control) and what to push back on. Dr. Amanda was the first person who wasn't afraid to challenge him a little bit and helped us know where it WAS okay to push the limits. While it was challenging at first, he is now a COMPLETELY different person. He is happier, more patient, and better able to handle frustration and change. Our entire family dynamic is better, calmer and we just feel like we stop holding our breath all the time, waiting for the other shoe to drop. She will challenge you to put in the hard work, but it's worth it and we will forever be so very grateful.

My wife and I went there today for an initial appointment. Prior to arriving, they sent quite a few documents to complete. Not an issue, I prefer to do that than hand write on forms in any doctors office. One of their forum was a credit card authorization form.

I did not fill it out. I don't let many companies keep my credit care on file for "MY" convivence. I did look at the form and it clearly states that they will place a hold on your credit card 2 days prior to your doctor visit. It didn't say the amount, just that a hold would be put on the card. I don't want any doctor's office to have the ability to place any hold, regardless of the amount before any service has been provided.

When we arrived, Dr. Roberts came out, very sweet and nice. She stated we had one more for to complete before we could be seen. I asked if it was the credit card authorization form and she said yes.

I told her I did not want to keep a credit care on file, let alone having them place a hold on my credit care 2 days prior to a visit.

She said it was Headways policy, and they handle all of Kati Merricks billing, and that it's their requirement.

Headway is a 3rd party billing provider. I asked her, what if I was a cash patient. She said we can't pay cash and that we had to have a credit card on file. So they don't accept cash patients. She said she was not aware of the hold that is placed on your credit card 2 days prior to your appointment even though it clearly states that they are doing it on the form.

Maybe it's just me but I am not comfortable with a doctors office having the ability to pre charge you any amount they feel fit to charge you. She said the actual charges will be billed after the services are provided.

They would not make an exception and let me pay by cash or credit card during our visit. She said there is no exception and that Headway requires it. My co-pay was only $15, so the money wasn't

I don't see how a company, let alone a doctors office would allow a 3rd party billing company to dictate their billing policy.

So, they would not accept our $15 cash or credit card payment while we were there so they did not accept us as a new patient.

Totally disappointed and even more surprised they allow a 3rd party billing system to dictate their policies.

Dr. Merricks is an incredibly compassionate therapist who worked with me during the year my physical and mental health deteriorated at an accelerated pace. I was unsure how to recover as I needed more than therapy and she was always there for encouragement to keep trying the next thing until I found relief. She is also very prompt at communication via her patient portal whenever I needed help (which was very often during this year).

I highly recommend her expertise in CBT and working with you to improve your situation. One of the best!
