My husband and I have only recently started seeing Mike, but he has already been so helpful to us, particularly to me (I’ve had several sessions with Mike on my own). Mike is very good at what he does, and I’m extremely picky when it comes to therapists. He has a very calm and caring manner, and he’s very good at helping me to understand things that I can do to make conflicts easier to resolve without downward spiraling. Having seen other therapists and even another couple’s counselor previously, what I like about Mike’s approach is that he actually has a system to help couples communicate better, with core principles that he teaches you during your sessions and homework modules to work on in between sessions. Having had the experience with other therapists of going to a session, talking about whatever fight or issues happened, and then going home to not make any progress in between sessions, I think that Mike’s more structured approach to couples counseling is what we need is what will ultimately make the difference in our marriage. If you’re someone reading this who is on the fence about Mike, go see him for a session - You’ll be glad you did.

Working with Mike has been life changing for myself and my relationship. I have been heavily involved in individual therapy in the past but couple’s counseling has helped me learn more about myself than I ever anticipated. I would HIGHLY recommend taking the leap if you are considering. Mike is very knowledgable and gives practical solutions and advice for all areas of your life. This experience has been unlike any therapy I have participated in before in all the best ways. We have worked heavily on trust and communication, as those were areas we needed to focus on, but there is so much benefit to the Gottman method for any areas in which your relationship may need support.

After 6 months working with Mike, I can honestly say that I’ve learned real, transformative skills that have allowed my relationship to grow. Mike has helped me develop crucial skills like truly listening to understand my partner's feelings rather than rushing to defend myself. I've also learned to recognize and communicate feelings of disconnection openly, which has created much deeper intimacy between my partner and I. Counseling has provided a safe, non-judgmental space where we could both work on improving ourselves. Highly recommend for any couple wanting to build a healthier, more understanding relationship.

Start:
Very responsive and as easy as a text message conversation! I will update this review as we go but are hopeful this 12 weeks will help as we work with Mike.

Update 11 weeks:
We have had 11 sessions with Mike and there is no way to explain how great it has been.
For those worried about the money: it is the best money we have spent. Better than dates, weekend trips, etc.
For those worried about time: you can dictate how often, he offers online tools to help between sessions.
We started out by seeing Mike weekly, then we slowed it down to bi weekly to give us more time for “homework”. It worked well for us and we have seen much growth in ourselves and our marriage.
Mike drives the conversation, asks questions, gets you talking, and offers information to help you heal, grow, and be better.
The only thing we regret is not starting sooner with Mike!

Update: 1 year- we worked with Mike for 12 weeks a year ago.
Mike’s tools have not only saved and grown our relationship, but have helped in many other areas of our lives. We continue to use tools from his program and discussions such as a recommended game and gottman. I have even shared our journey and these tools with a sibling on the west coast and they are using the tools as they search for someone with similar structure to Mike for specific guidance. He was more helpful for my personal mental health than any 1:1 talk therapy gave me and we were seeing him for our relationship. Thanks again Mike!

My husband and I are seeing Mike for couples counseling and I couldn’t ask for a better therapist. Mike is very patient, communicates well, and checks in with the both of us during intense conversations (does not ever take sides!). With his guidance and support, he’s helping us communicate better in our relationship outside of therapy. I found that therapy is only as good as the effort you put into it between sessions. One thing that I really like about Mike is that he shows you exactly where to focus the effort. He makes use of a well established program that has successfully helped improve communication between couples. These homework assignments are now a new way to communicate that doesn’t provoke arguments but instead brings us closer with a better understanding of each others needs. I really highly recommend!

With Mike you don't feel like you're in a session, but rather, talking in confidence to that close friend or family member you know will hear you out and guide you. Whether it's grieving over the death of a loved one or personal relationships he's helped me mature as a man these last six years. There are too many helpful tools to list in this review I've learned while being his client, but one that has carried over daily in all facets of life is being able to speak to peoples' temperaments. Mike you are greatly appreciated!

I've been seeing Mike at Learning Curve for around
6 months now. He's been helping me work through
anger management issues as well as dealing with
a tough break up. He's easy to talk to and has a lot
of experience both professionally and personally
when it comes to the subjects we discuss. He's
very easy to get in touch with, willing to work with
you when it comes to payments, and is very
flexible when it comes to scheduling needs.

Mike has helped my partner and myself tremendously! Our relationship is healthier with the guidance and support from him. Our family wouldn’t be where it is today without his help.
