Some staff are better than others but the majority are negligent, do not take concerns seriously and will discharge you after giving minimal care. I went to the Emergency room multiple times for having incredibly painful and inflamed tonsils to the point of difficulty breathing and swallowing, yet i was told to take OTC pain meds, and had to insist to be given fluids and antibiotics. Even the care I insisted on getting was incredibly slow and inadequate, i mostly laid in a hospital bed in misery and pain until i left against medical advisory to receive better care at a different hospital

I can't write this review without discussing the systemic problems of the greater "Dignity Health 'Care' System" in general. The next so-called health care professional that tells me that "The System is broken" will be reminded with my greatly diminished patience, that no, my partner's hip is broken. And this is overlaying a lifelong, extremely painful arthritic condition. She was last scheduled with her primary care LAST Oct. When he rescheduled, and then cancelled, again. And here we are, nearly June, five horrible hospitalizations later, with NO follow up. And this doc is the head of the clinics. Busy, yeah, so am I. So are you, probably, and the more diminished your health care becomes, the harder it is to live, or accomplish anything. I have been listening to someone I care for, more than I can ever possibly explain, alternately screaming and thrashing throughout most of the last 17 hours. This is because a simple transfer of meds order from one lovely Dignity Health Hospital to another, got lost. As no doc could be reached to figure out how to make a new one , we're 2 hours into an er visit. Her hip, incidentally, was broken at a Mark Twain Family practice office. The surgery was done at a somewhat better "Dignity" Hospital in Sacramento. This was on my insistence as the san Andreas facility badly screwed up my wrist surgery. Yeah. Go somewhere else.

We unfortunately had to make two trips to our local ER this month and I have to say both experiences were shockingly bad. My fiancé came in with a severe wound on his leg and their biggest concern was making him stand there and get his temperature and didn’t even look at him till about an hour and a half later. He even asked the nurse for something to put his leg on and she said “I guess”( like she was annoyed) which is awful because giving someone something small like that to help relieve their pain should not be an annoyance! During my stay, I could hear the nurses and even on occasion the doctors talking poorly about the patients , mocking one woman for calling the ambulance for breathing problems and saying, “my wife had an aneurysm and didn’t even call the ambulance”!! There was also one of the nurses talking very rude and with lack of compassion to one of his patients who was clearly in a lot of pain. A visit to the ER is by nature never a pleasant experience but because of the lack of attention and compassion, this was by far the worst ER I’ve been to. Our small community deserves better care.

My husband was taken here for suspected heart problems. He was taken by ambulance and was kept in corridor with drunks and drug addicts for 9 hours. We just got our bill for that experience $24,000! One night stay...unbelievable.

Went last night around 1 in the morning. Was having difficulty breathing, my chest hurt etc. the lady that took my blood pressure was extremely nice. But once the doctor got back there he started getting mad and raising his voice because I couldn’t remember the exact day I took my covid test. When I told him I do not have to deal with his rudeness, he proceeded to call me a junkie. When my family called to make a complaint to them directly he was told I was “aggressive” since I came in. Witch is 100% not true. My body was in pain, it was getting hard to talk and what not. If your staff doesn’t know how to deal with someone who’s sick, whether nothing was wrong with me or everything was wrong with me, that sort of treatment is not acceptable. Definitely will be driving the extra 30 minutes to sonora or even the extra 45 to make it to jackson.

My 13 year old child was brought here to seek emergency psychiatric assistance. While they took care of her during the overnight stay with them they transferred my child to a unit in Sacramento without telling either parent! We had to find out the hard way that our child was moved from the hospital to a location 3 hours away! How is this even remotely acceptable. To transfer a minor without notifying parents! I almost called the cops because no one could tell me where my child was! This is not ok!

they are extremely negligent when it comes to mental health. They will let you go even if it is obvious that you are not safe or mentally stable. The doctor I had was super snarky and acted like I didn’t know what I was going through

I had knee replacement surgery about a year ago at this hospital . My hospital stay was great. The staff was friendly, professional and caring. The nurses were the best. They took excellent care of me. I can't say enough about my surgeon, Dr. Lovett. He was compassionate and caring and did an excellent job on the surgery. I recovered quickly and did not need physical therapy. The knee has caused no problems and I've been pain free since it healed . I had the same surgery on my other leg two years ago at another local hospital. It was a nightmare. I went thru months of therapy and a second surgery but still have pain. I highly recommend Dr. Lovett and Mark Twain Hospital.
