I was referred to Matters of the Heart Counseling Centers by a friend. This counseling center is very diverse and unique. I was always afraid to discuss my mental health and had kept it a secret my entire life until I met Valerie Doyle. Valerie has been so understanding, she takes the time to listen and has never been judgmental. There has been times when I have had immediate life issues that had taken place, I have had to pick up the phone and give her a call and she made time for me. Thank you, Matters of the Heart for being there.

For anyone who is struggling after all of the turmoil of the last three years...don't go it alone if you are sad and anxious! I reached out to Valerie at Matters of the Heart and was connected with a therapist, Liz Waissman, LCSW. I started seeing Liz in March 2021 when I was at the lowest point that you could possibly imagine. Now, I am in the most wonderful place, and I thank Matters of the Heart for having such an excellent clinician on their team. Liz is such a warm and professional therapist and was a great partner in helping me heal. She is amazing! I changed my life for the better! Liz took me from being in the darkest place in my life to feeling very joyful. With Liz's encouragement, I was able to leave a very abusive employer of 20+ years and find a wonderful new job. I was referred to Valerie Doyle from another professional therapist. The Matters of the Heart Counseling Centers has been a community for me, especially the groups. I am very thankful for the work that I am doing with Dr. Val my life has been added with more richness to it. As a POC it is important that there are spaces that I and other POC's we can go to for our mental health to be seen by the provider who "gets it." Matters of the Heart Counseling Centers is a very instrumental place that is filled with warmth, and which allows for a space that may seem uncomfortable to become comfortable to express oneself. I am incredibly happy to be part of this community.

Valerie is one of the best at what she does. She’s helped me in so many ways when it comes to my mental health and helping me understand what I need to prioritize when it does come down to my mental health also. I would recommend anyone that’s looking for therapy to try anyone from the matters of the heart family.

Horrible. Ive was seeing Ms Valerie Doyle for a few months for virtual therapy. During our sessions she would walk around her home, discuss her personal issues with her mom, her weight loss battles and struggles, and even fell asleep several times during our last two sessions. It was very unprofessional. This company also does not respond to messages in a timely manner, and seem to not really care about the patients mental health.

I truly love the counseling, I’ve been coming to matters of the heart up to five years or more. I experience a lot of family trauma and if I didn’t have my support system and counseling with Ms. Valerie, I honestly do not know where I would be… definitely give this a chance, my life have changed for the best.

I feel heard in our sessions. My confidence has soared and my hope for the future is looking better.
