I've been going to groups and individual therapy at Mind Therapy Clinic since July 2023. I came to MTC after being in mental health rehab for the previous six weeks. I spent years before that getting individual therapy but continued to be anxious and unhappy, even as I processed more and more of my childhood trauma. My individual therapist recommended MTC and so I pivoted from my individual therapy into their program when I got back from mental health rehab.
It was challenging for me the first three months. I was at MTC four days a week, attending multiple groups, and struggling to understand what it all meant for me. When I stopped fighting it so hard, and began practicing the skills I was being taught, things started to shift for me. I held onto that, having found some success, and I'm glad I did. Digging in and really practicing the skills, then actively contributing to process groups, helped me unlock multiple areas I'd been stuck in. I got to talk at length about learning self-compassion, which has become my go-to tool for those days when my head and heart are struggling.
Last month I finished up with the remaining group session I'd been attending (Family and Interpersonal Relationships). I'm down to just individual and couples therapy. I'm happier than I have been in years. My relationships are improving as I bring more MTC skills to my day-to-day. I'm grateful to MTC for providing me a place and the tools to heal.

This place is riddled with issues on so many different levels, it’s not even funny. They deserve to be shut down for the level of unethical, manipulative advertising practices at the very least. They do not actually provide many of the services they advertise on their website, at least for PTSD/trauma disorders. They did not offer me a single trauma-specific service listed in my nearly 2 months there. None of the groups were actually helpful for serious, complex trauma disorders. I will be looking into legal action to take against MTC as my mental health and safety was put in serious jeopardy for months as a result of the negligent practices of this business. Shame on you for taking advantage of desperate, struggling individuals for your own gain.

I see Dr. Jack Van Bezooyen. I've been consistently impressed with him because he takes the time to talk and get to know me. My first appointment was at least an hour and it felt more like a therapy session than the typical psychiatrist who only prescribes and pushes you out the door.

I had been on MMT for almost a decade and only felt comfortable discontinuing it because of his support. He gave me his cell number to text him if I had trouble.

My favorite thing is that he nerds out on the neurochemistry/neuropharmacology and explains it to me. I find that stuff fascinating and love that he makes an effort to help me understand why things are the way that they are.

My insurance doesn't cover the practice so I schedule appointments less often than I'd like but I absolutely recommend Dr. Jack Van Bezooyen if you're looking for someone with his specialties.
