We were connected to a therapist and allowed to rack up two months worth of bills being told along the way “this happens all the time”, “your insurance is wrong, they always do this.” “we have dozens of clients from your state with your insurance it’s never a problem.” “It will be cleared up soon.” Then WE chose to discontinue service because the balance creeping past $1,000 worried us. NMCC agreed since they couldn’t figure out our insurance. It was Empire BCBS so not some obscure provider. So we started to open up to someone, knew them just long enough to lay all our problems on the table, then the relationship was over before any healing could take place. Just another failed foray into mental health services and a huge waste of everybody’s time.

six months of silence

They call expecting us to pay the balance because my insurance “has a sub plan that doesn’t cover televisits”. Which isn’t even true, I’ve had a dozen Telehealth appts with my gastroenterologist who is also in CT and it’s never been an issue.

But don’t expect sympathy from the person on the phone. She has a family with its own problems and will be quick to tell you that. Quick to tell you how much she’s had to work with your insurance. And how much she’s done “for you”.

My wife demanded that we throw money at them to make them go away. I would have denied the charge through my cc company if it we’re up to me alone.

There is some good news. My wife and I rarely agree these days.But, we both felt that there was no compassion and a fair amount of incompetence coming out of NMCC.
