I’ve been coming to this office for over a year, and I can’t speak highly enough of the care and support I’ve received. The staff are always friendly, professional, and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment from the moment you walk in. My physician has been incredible—attentive, compassionate, and truly invested in my mental health journey. I always feel heard and supported here, and I’m so grateful for the positive impact they’ve had on my life. Highly recommend!

So far so good. I've been seeing my current provider up on. Wood St. In Eureka California in the last couple of years for C.-P.T.S.D.i started with a great provider and had no complaints for several years. Suddenly he was gone. I take a control medication that I've been on for 20 years. Suddenly, I became the enemy and went through 4 providers and they all want me to just take and give me every derivative of paxil and other things to treat my hyper-vigilant behavior and panic disorder, with anxiety. The only medicine that works for me they want me to get off it. But you can get addicted to all of the meds they want you to take!! What kinda care and mind game are they trying to do to me?! I'm scared of every appointment because I don't know what is going to happen. So I really hope that there's some good professional people that can help me with my mental health care the mind is very different from patient to patient. I've been doing this for years now. And I don't like changes in my life. Just wanted you to let this community know what I have been going to. So that's all for now. Thanks for listening. Any advice would help.

Edit: I am very pleased with how my complaint was handled and the changes NAMHS has made to ensure clients have access to making a formal complaint. Shout out to the Eureka office manager for your attention and care!

Original complaint was: On August 30th I requested my medical records from NAMHS. As a patient since 2020, I have recently transitioned to a new provider who requires access to my medical history. I adhered to the established protocol by completing the Release of Information form at the Eureka office and was informed that I would receive a call within 30 days when my records would be ready for pickup.

Unfortunately, I did not receive this call. After five weeks, my attempts to inquire about my records were met with resistance. During one call, I was informed that my request had not been processed, and another time, I was told the office manager had left for the day and would return my call the following day.

Despite my efforts to reach out multiple times, I have not received any callbacks or updates. In addition, when I inquired about the procedure for filing a complaint or grievance, I was redirected without clear guidance. My request for this information seems to have prompted a brief response, assuring me that my records would be ready by the end of the week; however, I have yet to receive any further communication.

I have involved the Better Business Bureau and have my records in my possession now, however NAMHS has failed to respond to the BBB complaint I filed 7 days ago. This further demonstrates their non-responsiveness and avoidance of conflict as an organization.

To resolve this matter, I respectfully request the following:

1. A formal process for filing a complaint within their system. Either a paper form in the office or an electronic form in the public facing website. Not in the portal. Both things would be ideal. (I have been told to file my complaint here, but this does not seem adequate, or a place I would think to file it.)

2. The development of a mitigation plan to ensure that clients receiving mental health services have accessible methods for filing grievances, as they are often in vulnerable positions and may struggle to advocate for themselves. The creation of these forms, tracking them, and investigating them, are essential to the health and safety of everyone NAMHS serves.

Thank you for all you do! Hope to have some resolution soon!

Its been a great experience. I'm trying hard to quit drinking. I need more help. Everybodies yelling gets to me plus their bad attitudes. I try to keep to myself when I'm in a bad mood.

NAMHS is the best place to go here I'm Northern California (Humboldt County).
Let me start with the fact that they give you options. You can do just talk therapy (no meds) if you want, just medication management, or both. That is one of the first questions they ask you. Before you ask do you have to do talk therapy to get management…..NOPE! That is not a requirement but I suggest doing both. I have been diagnosed with complex PTSD and GAD due to being attacked by a stranger in my work parking lot. I am very fortunate that my employer stepped in and helped me along the way but I still needed to process what happened and find a way to move forward and that is where Val my therapist came in. She is AMAZING! Also, a note to other parents out there. Please stop taking your children to their pediatrician for mental health needs call MAMHS right away because they have doctors and therapists who specialize in mental health for children and teenagers. I can't repeat that last statement enough. All your pediatrician is going to do is give your kid meds depending on their situation NAMHS will do more much more. My seven-year-old was struggling to focus in class starting in first grade and since taking him to this clinic and getting the support from school staff he has flourished and is now reading on a third grade level because he has confidence in himself. His situation started in November and here we are a few months later and doing great! Please if you are depressed, have anxiety, PTSD, or ANY other mental health issues visit this clinic. They also take Partnership/Medi-Cal. You are not alone and there is help for you.
