After recently moving back home to Tampa, I was pleased to find an excellent psychiatric service provider in Dr. Northrup. I greatly appreciate the doctor’s approach to my care: professional, supportive, and collaborative. In addition to his solid experience as a psychiatric practitioner, I’ve found Dr. Northrup does a great job of relating to you as a person. Moreover, his staff are great to work with. The front office staff are communicative and incredibly helpful when it comes to patient support and scheduling.

The billing system is inaccurate and is not reflecting payments I've made for previous sessions. I'm being asked to pay again for sessions I've already paid for. I did not receive an invoice for six months then last week received a past due notice for $680 for two zoom calls which was supposed to be covered by insurance. I'd like to clarify my frustration with the billing and also state here that I am disputing the accuracy of the statement. I've been a patient for a year. I paid two invoices six and seven months ago for reasonable amounts. At that point in time my account was settled with a zero balance. Since then I've had two zoom calls, one five months ago and the last two months ago. Nothing more was accomplished in these calls other than to renew a prescription that my PCP had been writing previously. There's no value in that for me that justifies $680 in addition to whatever was billed to my insurance. I will no longer be a patient here and had I known six months ago what these charges would be I would've discontinued my appointments. The inconsistency, lack of transparency and apparent inaccuracy of your billing system is unprofessional and especially so in a mental health environment where financial surprises can be devastating

Dr.Northrup has been a big change in my life. Before entering the office I've always had trouble focusing and accomplishing my goals for many many years but every since I took the leap to ask for help, I got more than I bargained for! He has been a wonderful doctor that helped push me to strive for better and our sessions is a constant positive reminder that I'm on the right path to being who I need to be. He prescribes focus and clarity in which I recommend many others to join this experience!

I previously wrote a review giving Dr. Northrup 5 stars. Unfortunately, after the past few years, I no longer have any affinity for this practice and I am currently undoing the damage done.
I saw Northrup for over 20 years. When he merged offices, things changed. He stopped listening. He put me back on an old medication (SSRI) that had taken me months to get off of, and then even once I complained that the med was again making me feel terrible, he told me it was better/easier than something else because we knew it "worked." Clearly, if I was still feeling depressed AND the medication was making me feel badly, it was not working. In 20 years, I was only ever prescribed two (2) SSRI medications. I'm not medication happy; I didn't think I'd be switching over and over, but 20 years is a long time to go with only two (2) meds, neither of which were ideal.
I went to a different psychiatrist and discussed my needs and we had a plan right away to get me off of the SSRI and try a different class of medication. I am dealing with getting off this SSRI once again, but the new medication seems much better suited for me, so hopefully this is the last time I feel this way.
I have multiple friends I referred to Northrup over the years, and they too have had a decline in their experiences. I have felt guilty for referring them to him because each of them have now left for other practitioners, including my husband.
I don't know why things changed so radically. I do not recommend this practice in its current incarnation.
Northrup, if you read this, consider going back to a smaller practice and start listening to your patients.

I found Dr. Northrup to be kind, compassionate and very helpful. I had my first session with Gil Fernandez and it was absolutely amazing, I couldn't believe how amazing he was with trauma focused CBT. The reason for the one star is because the day before my second session, I got a call from the office telling me that they don't take my insurance! After 3 visits, they realized that they don't take my insurance? Wow, I can't even tell you the anxiety it gave me to deal with this, which is exactly why I was seeking treatment so if you want excellent service, I would highly recommend this practice but please do yourself a favor and MAKE SURE THEY TAKE YOUR INSURANCE without a doubt first!!!

Dr. Northrup was recommended to me by another doctor, and I'm glad he was. He has helped me through severe anxiety/panic attacks. Dr. Northrup has been easy to talk to and transparent throughout my treatment. Our meetings are quick and efficient, but not rushed. Telehealth meetings are a nice bonus. I would recommend Dr. Northrup and his practice for anyone seeking psychiatric care.
