There are good people working here.
They seem to genuinely care about the well being of families in our community. They offer parenting classes, counceling, and supervised visitation for parent and child to spend time together in a supervised setting.

Though the parent center is its own "entity" ,
They are controlled by family and children services who make up most, if not all of there business.

After 45 years of business, it seems they have yet to create their own identity.
The classes offered to parents need to be updated.
They are showing slideshow reruns of parenting tips circa 1978 ( not literally but close).
The layout of the building is in need of remodel. It is less than inviting.
The " backyard" so to speak, has the look of a prison yard with high concrete walls of cracking plaster. They don't let parents bring anything for their kids. They provide a box of broke down toys.
It would take little effort to throw down some turf and set up some sustainable activities for parents and children to enjoy.

The reason I give the parent center of Santa Cruz 2 stars is because they lack the backbone to set their own standard.
The parent center Staff will compromise
Their values, violate parental rights if instructed to.

Update:
Staff member Angela ( not certified, not qualified to provide therapy) relentlessly interjected herself while interacting with my children.
As a result I asked for a copy of expectations. Telling me not to ask my kids how they are feeling seemed vague.
They gave me a copy of covid procedure and a single side piece of paper entitled "suggestions".
Thereafter I was banned from this establishment.

Another follow up.
I had a court date. The judge brought up "problems at the parent center i see". Since then the mother and I have split. The parent Center is advocating for her in every way they can as the mother claimed DV for the sole purpose of getting free housing. I stopped by there to talk with her one time months ago about an important topic. This ended up being in a report. They dramatized the stop by. As there was no restraining order, they should have minded their own business.
It only takes 50 people to con a million when you compartmentalize everybody. "they are just doing their jobs". Pending trial, I have materials and will be hiring a campaign manager. I want every human in this county to know what is going on. I keep getting emails saying my original review is popular. If you want to chime in with your exp. please do. Its the "Parents" Center after all. Parents should have a voice. Have you been railroaded? There are others like you that want to hear.
