The staff was nice and not enough of them. I thought the point of the tour was to learn about and help protect nature. To my horror the tour quickly turned into a torture show for the poor animals. There was a TON of kids. As the fish were put into the observation tanks kids were grabbing them immediately holding them out of the water for long periods of time. There was a beautiful dogfish that kept being harassed non gently. Even adults were tossing them around without compassion. I wanted to start grabbing the fish and tossing them off the boat to get them away from the people. It was chaos. I had to walk away several times to calm down. None of the parents were controlling their children, many encouraged the behavior. At least one crab had its claw ripped off by some boys.

They needed more staff and less kids. If the animal portion had been better controlled, the children taught to handle the creatures or some rules were in place, and the parents were more responsible it would have been a fun trip.

I know a lot of it was beyond their control, but the environment and lack of structure 100% allowed people’s behavior to be pretty savage towards the animals.

My son just got home today and had the BEST time. He has some social issues but the staff was absolutely amazing with him. He learned so much and had fun. What more can you ask for?

My Daughter has been going to their week long summer program for 3 years now and she just loves it. They do a fantastic job of making science fun and she learns so much. I highly recommend Project O. The staff keeps safety in mind while giving children an experience they will always remember.

They received donations from the wind industry and received a $950,000 grant from Ørsted to be distributed in installments from 2021 to 2024. Project Oceanology is a marine science educational nonprofit that has used the grant money to promote offshore wind in its educational materials.

It's along my run/walk route through the UConn Avery Point campus. It is very scenic as it is Oceanside. Many of my students often have field trips here.
