If you have a child that you can't beat into submission at home this might be what you're looking for. When I attended this school I watched students have their elbow brought behind their back to their opposite shoulder. Maybe that was common because they were dealing with some deeply troubled kids. Please think long and hard if you want your child to be locked in during the day in what is a jail complete with criminals. Don't even think about them learning this school just tries to keep the kids from killing everyone there.

I attended this school in 1993's I was over weight and bullied at a middle school near by that caused bahvior issues in class. Somehow some from the disctrict convinced my mom this school was for me. My first day of school as the teacher intruduced me to the class a studen rushed up to me bit me in the stomach. The boy latched on and would not let go the teacher would not help me. I had to claw at his face to get him off me.
The was my first and last day attendign that school.

I wonder how many kid like me ended up inccorectly placed at this school.

I don't care what anyone says. I am an alumnus of this school. As a troubled teen, the teachers and staff were very supportive and helped me personally through everything. Even the teachers would listen to my problems and offer to talk and help with other issues that aren't school related. Big thumbs up to Mr. Jason Mondello and Mr. Adriel Lantigua. Sure it's got little flaws here and there, but no school is perfect. Take your child here if you want to see change. Teachers here care much more than any teacher in public schools, and will even sit with you until you understand what they're teaching. And on free days, they'll play chess with you or uno or even monopoly. Great teachers. This school changed my life forever.

I remembered getting dumped into home economics classes 3 semesters in a row. I had very little say even in regards to elective classes I was placed in. Constantly dangled the option of gifted special ed but they never followed through.

The curriculum didn't even touch foreign languages, research, critical thinking, lab based STEM learning, or analytical writing. No extra curricular activities offered besides Future Homemakers of America (nka Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). Basically things required to succeed in post secondary education and non trade/service sector careers.

Seems they didn't expect much out of their students. More concerned with obedience training than learning.

I went to this school right after middle school in "Oliver Hoover Elementary" what a horrible staff and what horrible teaching skills. Parents be careful where you're placing your children. One thing is what they sell you outside and another thing is what's truly inside this place. Especially if you've got kids with special needs.

The teachers are not perfect but there is alot of progress needed, the school lunch is not very healthy, there is more macro nutrition then micro (which is very bad), some of the substitution teacher are very untrain and somewhat reckless and the school layout feels (me and my classmates have talked about) and look like a jail (which does not help with students that have emotional hardship [especially when we can bearly getting sunlight]. I think some teacher some teacher are Genuinely trying there best to help and they give out food which helped me through times of empty fridges, so there pro and cons to this school but yet again there is need of progress.
