Wonderful, caring staff. Truly. I appreciate everything they did for me during my stay. Groups were very interactive and diverse. The facility was clean. Dr. B is so kind, and really listens to you. Unfortunately, I no longer meet the criteria to stay, which was not their fault. I'd have liked to stay longer, however I understand and I have some great information and referrals. I feel as though they are a bit understaffed, which is an issue everywhere in the mental health field, but they really did their best!! I hope they can find some great volunteers or hire some additional staff to help them out! Imet some pretty great people there too, I truly learned all lot from the staff, as well as a few of the patients.

I cannot say enough about the kind and compassionate care I received from the staff while I spent ten days dealing with severe depression. The facility needs a lot of love due to low funding and wear and tear. But that means very little when you factor in the incredible staff of people who are there because they want to be. I will always be grateful for Sempervirens.

My sister was in this hospital multiple times over the past two years . We begged for help. They kept just releasing her on the street saying she was fine when she wasn’t . She killed herself at 28 years old this year on march 4th . Layed in the road in the freeway. Her name was Dakota Stafslien . I hope you all read this and remember her

I went to behavioral health multiple times in my mid-twenties for therapy after l had my first break with psychosis and manic depression when I was 24. The constant nightmares, and the visual and tactile hallucinations were frightening. The visionary experiences were extraordinarily beautiful and mesmerizing. The stuttering, word slurring, delusions, paranoia, random jerking limb movements, panic attacks, and thought blocking were frustrating. The auditory hallucinations were always derogatory.

At that time, I believed that I was thought broadcasting sensitive information, that extradimensional sentient beings were psychically attacking me and shifting me out of alignment with this reality, and that suicide was the fruition and only direction my life was headed for. I was happy with the care I received, but the outpatient doctor that was treating me on a regular basis did not include me in my treatment planning. He only pushed for medication management and refills, he did not ask person centered questions or follow-up on my current symptom improvements. It did not appear to me that he cared about my family trauma and how it was effecting me, or how much trauma transference I had experienced working in mental health, or how being subject to involuntary hospitalizations and emergency injections had damaged my trust in institutions. He called my interfaith worldviews new-age beliefs, and in his notes he framed me as someone who would decline to a worsening mental state with a lower quality of life without continued psychiatric care.

I went to his office to get a note to return to work. He canceled a number of my appointments with him on the day of my appointment, and barred my request to return to work citing my diagnosis as a reason to justify his decision. I ended up challenging his position by changing my psychiatrist to another provider in the same building, who evaluated my acquired medication side effect profile, who asked me questions the entire duration of our visit on my current symptoms, and ultimately agreed that I was no longer benefiting from medication and took me off of all of them.

I had to seek county assistance in reinstating to employment, and I met with a vendor PhD Psychologist who recommended me back to my former employment with the county on SV. I passed medical, psychological, and background clearance, and have been working on this unit since. I have 8 years of experience working on SV and 9 years of experience navigating psychosis, 5 years successfully without medication and any additional support and service. This year I’ll be entering the RN program at CR to pursue psychiatric nursing, so that I can better help my community and people like me. Early intervention, psychoeducation, and positive regard were fundamental components to my recovery. Had it not been for SV, CSU, and OP, I may not have had this successful of an outcome.

I've spent months there if you add up all my admissions. Most of the time it's a pretty decent place. But the staff gets burned out and I don't blame them. Some of them really care.

10/22 They let my daughter leave with some stranger…. I’m super scared to see how this turns out…….
12/8…My daughter has been there several times now and needs longer term help but they just dropped her off in old town this time! Said they gave her a poncho and map!!!! In the rain! She can’t even read a map!!!! Worst mental health care in the world!!!!! No care, no help, just moving people in and out of beds with no regard for what lies ahead!!!! Why are they even open…. Just to collect a pay check I suppose!!Great job Dr. Mosher !!

As of May 4th 2024, my daughter has passed away at the young age of 28..... Worst health care system ever!!!

I was NOT a patient here, however, they took me in, protected me from a murderer, and, fed me quite well.
St. Joseph's meals were better, although, Semper's would make dietary adjustments if you Really need them.

Edited to add: I was only inpatient for a couple of days at the start of my Care here and from then on, all care was outpatient. I was assigned to one doctor the rest of my time there and him and his assistants are virtually the only ones I can speak for. I was a patient there for about 2 years, starting about 6 years ago and he is no longer working at this hospital.

Everyone was always really kind to me and I was always given the care I needed. My doctor was great and I didn't have much trouble getting regular, consistent appointments. This place quite literally saved my life.
