On first session, Shorack seemed to start off with a lie that my ex told her right off the bat of 50/50, which I had to call my attorney, and thankfully he answered my call after working hours (he is a wonderful attorney), and he confirmed to Shorack that what I was saying was fact about me having 100% custody. Shorack made a comment to me that she didn't mean to be mean or racist but from her experience Spanish people speak very (or too) fast, that I'm in America now and for me to slow down. Shorack kept allowing my ex to go on & on & on and kept verbally limiting me to 2 minutes throughout the session. Shorack told me numerous times that my attorney was misleading me, which was not true nor accurate. Shorack was very intimidating, visibly showing dislike and seemed more concerned about her $250 per session fee than really trying to help. I got home, told my family member about her comment to me, since I'm a very proud half Hispanic, and when she said that that was not a nice thing to say, was an unneeded comment out of context that had nothing to do with why we were there, the emotions of feeling uncomfortable, hurt, confused as to why such an unnecessary comment that I had been bottling up after having heard that I bursted into tears and let Shorack know that what she had said was hurtful & that it had bothered me. I honestly & truly would not recommend Shorack as a "neutral", since my experience with her was not. Bottom line she showed no professionalism, sensitivity with her words and actions and total opposite of being neutral.

Mary Shorack is experienced and very knowledgeable in her field. She has been great, shown compassion and genuine concern. If you are searching for someone to coddle you and co-sign with victim mentality, look elsewhere. She is a professional, who’s aware those tactics, though used by many counselors, do not benefit the patient and are actually harmful. She will push you to participate in your healing and growth.

Mary was recommended by a friend who has been using her services for over 15 years and I am grateful to have found someone with her knowledge and expertise.

Not recommended for court-appointed reunification or evaluation cases. Her familiarity with current knowledge regarding Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS),Parental Alienation (PA), coersive control, resist and refuse, etc is lacking, to the extent that her actions are interpreted as alienating behaviors. It seems she lacks the comprehension or training necessary to recognize and address these family dynamics effectively, and evidence suggests she is a Pathogenic Alienator herself.

If you challenge or question her approach, expect backlash in court, lies, false allegations, and to be targeted. She will not hesitate to use children as weapons.

Her demeanor appeared inflexible, inconcise, and authoritarian, displaying a bias against men.

Careful in the waiting room, her secretary is known to spy on people in the waiting room and report to Mary, I find this unethical and a violation of personal boundaries and classifies as an alienating behavior.

Her primary focus seemed to be on her high hourly rate of $250 rather than providing assistance. Comparatively, her fees seem inflated for the lack of expertise she possesses, likely driven by her association with the family court system.

It is hoped that the local mental health community can evolve by embracing modern perspectives and educating themselves about the shortcomings in the current system.
