Clean center for clients and children. Large waiting room. One Public restrooms. Nice and warm attendance. Plenty of parking, handicap parking available. You would need to squeeze through the front door if you bring a wheelchair. They even have a drinking fountain for you if you would want water

A member of my family had a new patient appointment today 6/6/24. They showed up on time, presented their insurance card and then was told that insurance was inactive. Immediately called insurance and that was not the case. Insurance rep. Placed us on a conf. Call and they told her they were not accepting new patients! What? You had a phone number, why did you, the provider, not phone, and cancel prior to the client showing up. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL!

My therapist is amazing and I’m so grateful for her but this is the worst office staff at any doctors office I’ve ever been to.
Trying to make an appointment is like pulling teeth. Getting someone to call you back is next to impossible. I don’t want to scare anyone out of treatment they need but be prepared the amazing therapy will take forever to schedule.

I went to the Suncoast Center for two years. My first year I was with Jillian who I really hope has found a new career because caring for mentally ill humans ain’t it. Jillian made me feel worse about myself every time I saw her. I was made aware she was new, and I was one of her first clients, but to constantly put me down and give me little to no direction, that’s a lack of professionalism, not experience.
The next therapist I saw was a parrot. I can’t even remember her name, that’s how impactful she was. (Edit: I looked up her name and it is Jessica.) Our sessions were a joke. I would say something, and she would repeat it back in a question to make sure she “understood”. I swear, I would’ve made more progress with a brick wall. The best part is, Suncoast Center tried retro charging me for the two years I was a “patient” (if you can even call it that). I qualified for sliding scale plus a program through the county for trauma, and I was told my visits were covered. Then all of a sudden, I have this rude, uneducated woman hounding me over the phone for payment. What a joke.
The building is DISGUSTING. I don’t know how this place is operating. Dead cockroaches in the corner. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time. They will only make you feel worse.

They say they will respond to your issues (example medications) with in 48 hours. I always have to call day after day after day with ZERO RESPONSE to an issues. I have not been able to get my medications since February and it's now June. Part of this is due to shortage but a lot has to do with the fact that they never respond or resolve any calls like they say they will. It's like pulling teeth to get transferred to anyone that can help, the lady Gail who is in charge of transferring the calls to the right person basically Gate-keeps and when you explain why you need to be transferred to a real person and not machines she is beyond rude and useless and will not due so. So many people are probably self harming, killing themselves or being admitted due to this woman and facility NOT HELPING PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS.

The worst staff over the phone, people talk over you or hang out without letting you ask additional questions or very sarcastic and passive aggressive. They behave this way because even the managers behave this way. If you need meds or therapy just sign up for ambetter , it’s free and they have ACTUAL people that value customer service

They accept new patients but all their staff is booked for months. So you wait two weeks for the intake appointment then have to schedule your therapist appointment months out and aren't allowed to schedule with a psychiatrist until after your therapist session so that's more months later. Just stop accepting new clients if you can't provide them with the services they need. Huge waste of time and for someone with mental health problems, a huge push away from being able to trust others and actually deal with our issues. The lady at the front also gave me attitude. I asked for the soonest appointment and she said blah blah date at 8am and I asked it that was the only time available that day and she was like well you said you wanted the soonest... Oh yeah, months later and a couple hours will make the difference. Thanks.

Hi.
I'm not much of a complainer, and I usually give A LOT of leeway because humans make mistakes, but my experience at Suncoast has been too much even for me.
I want to first say that the therapists are good people who are working in a difficult time and system, and they are not to blame, except a tiny bit. Hence the second star.
My first therapist with Suncoast told me that copays were currently being waived due to the pandemic, full stop. I was ecstatic, I don't have a lot of money lying around. The therapist has since quit, so I'm not going to name them. I was never told that this service ended.
Fast forward to NINE MONTHS LATER, I receive a bill in the mail for the entire copay for all my visits. I'm stunned and upset. I call billing, they say call my insurance. They have no good reason as to why they have waited this long to send me any sort of bill other than 'staffing'. Which, when it comes to people's billing, is not an excuse. They also say 'sorry, the therapist shouldn't have said that', but have no good reason as to why I wasn't informed of my patient responsibility until now.
I call insurance, and they confirm that yes, some people were being waived, but I was not one of them. I call Suncoast again, and I get a rude woman (all of the billing people were quite rude, and appointment scheduling isn't much more friendly) that again, gave no reason why I wasn't billed before, even though they submit claims every week, and was entirely unsympathetic to the fact that I wouldn't have continued services if I was aware of how much it would cost. It makes no sense to let a client's bill rack up without informing them, at least send a 'this is not a bill' courtesy statement! Their only concession (after a very rude 'what do you want me to do') was to say I didn't have to pay all at once, and a half-hearted apology for deeply misleading a client.
I have ended my patient file, and I plan on taking this issue further up the chain, but for now, I want everyone to be aware how disingenuous and unorganized their billing department is, and warn people with low income (who they are supposed to be servicing primarily) against using them. You might get slapped with a bill you didn't expect.
