My friend was recently discharged from the acute inpatient rehabilitation center at Sutter hospital in Crescent City, CA. After he had a stroke. His experience was horrible to say the least.
First he was left unattended when he first got there and he fell and broke a rib. He has a speech impairment and blurred double vision among other problems caused by his stroke. And apparently the night crew enjoyed making fun of him, when he was in pain and couldn't hold still the strapped him in an adult high-chair and decided to put him in the center of the hall way and humiliated him. When he would call for a nurse to go to the bathroom the nurses would answer with "Jill's dinner can I take your order", not take him to the bathroom then laugh at him and humiliate him because he couldn't hold it. They man handle him causing more pain and they tormented him.
When we picked him up he told us he hadn't got his meds for that morning when I asked the nurse and social worker there I was liesd to and they claimed my friend just didn't remember, his roommate said no my friend hadn't gotten his meds so I had his blood pressure and heart rate checked and his readings were extremely high proving he hadn't had any of his medications.
So Sutter acute inpatient care providers lie about patient meds risking patients lives, they abuse patients, humiliate patients, and cause unnecessary trauma, fear and pain to patients for their enjoyment.
Shame on all of you! to the night CNA I hope you have everything done to you that you have done to patients there. All of you (expecially your night CNA) should be fired and never allowed to work in any field of patient care, child care or animal care ever again.
