I’m now facing divorce after just a few sessions here with marriage counseling. My spouse and I went in to counseling strongly believing that we could make our marriage better with learning tools to communicate and understand each other. My therapists last advice to us as a couple was to go to a marriage intensive counseling or get a divorce. Then while I was not present my spouse and the counselor began to discuss that I may have traits of a Borderline Personality Disorder. To this day after exhausted efforts to show my spouse this wasn’t the case he still says to me, “the therapist even seen your disorder”. He now uses this for basis of divorce. When both spouses are not present, you can end up like my husband whose therapist convinced him that his wife had a personality disorder. Whether or not it is true, (which multiple tests showed no disorder present) those words had a profound effect on the husband and it forever tarnished the way he viewed his wife. While before he had hope that the relationship could improve, he was now convinced she had a “disorder” and there was no point in trying anymore as she was the one with the problem, not him. So beware of the counseling you receive.

I had a wonderfully positive experience at the Joshua Center. The staff are very supportive and kind. After just a short time in marriage counseling, we had already seen improvements and a deeper, healthier level of connection with each other. Phenomenal resource for NWA!
