Without question, I can tell you that this school has had a major impact in a positive way for my son. He has been at TLA for five years now. Every single staff member and teacher I have come into contact with has been nothing but excellent. Prior to TLA my son was not receiving even minimal attention in the main-stream school system. The district cannot manage students on the spectrum (depends on the severity too) AND work with non-spectrum students in the same classrooms, let alone the lack of training to begin with.

The teachers and staff care about their students at TLA. The Principal (Dr. Toby Honsberger) is clearly passionate about what he does and that goes for Kathryn Steele (the Assistant Principal) too. The two work as a team, two people, one unified purpose. Ms. Steele has been in every single ESE meeting my son and I have attended for the last five years! She actively runs the meeting and is involved in the discussions and prepared before going into the meeting too.

Both the Principal and the Assistant Principal can talk at length about my son because they are involved in what he does and it shows. My son's classroom has only maybe ten students and three teachers (two assistants and one certified teacher).

I don't know how they balance their behind-the-scenes efforts (which appear to be 24/7/365) with how well they are able to focus their attention on the students, but they get it done and it shows. I suppose the answer is related to the passion they have for doing the best for their students and/or my son.

What else is there to say about this amazing school that exists for only one reason: To give the best possible education and behavioral skills for those on the Autism Spectrum.
