Update 2/6/25- Surgeon needed to prescribe Methylprednisolone 2/11/25- Dr. had to treat a bacterial sinus infection.
I went to The Recovery Team after being manipulated by a tech named Lucas from their sister location, The Haven. a detox center managed by the same people. Not just him, but lead techs and therapists at the time I was trying to leave. He and others pressured my grieving 77-year-old mother, who was at her brothers Funeral who passed from cancer on the day of my discharge. Before agreeing, I explicitly asked him, "If I go and I donât like it, can I leave?" I made him swear on his life that this was true. He confidently assured me I could.
He used manipulative tactics, making insinuations like, âYou probably have a bottle back at your apartmentâ or âYou have access to drugs,â Truth being told, I did not. I had no desire to drink or use. I had surgery in the beginning of the year on my sinuses. 3 ER visits, calling my Doctor, going to surgeon follow-ups and followed every medical recommendation. Days of not sleeping. Intense Pain and pressure in my head. The only reason I had called my "Group Contact" from the IOP program I completed in November was to help seek medical assistance for extreme migraines and tension headaches caused by a sinus procedure. I was assured I could get help with all of this.
Alcohol was a last resortâa desperate âHail Maryâ for relief. The fact that it didnât even give me any sensation worried me more than the relapse itself. I shared this repeatedly with every staff member and therapist and Doctor. Yet, explaining my situation over and over only increased my anxiety. This facility took advantage of me when I was physically and mentally vulnerable. Id also like to add that when I first was omitted I was told that I could not leave and it was 48 hours you had to stay there. Which is not true.
My sinus surgery required me to regularly rinse my sinuses to prevent infection and manage headaches. This process involved heating a bottle of water in the microwave before adding a saline solution. The process ensures that both the bottle and the water are sanitized. Upon arrival, the microwave in my unit didnât work. I reported this issue to at least five staff members. ZERO action was taken. Under normal circumstances, this wouldn't have been any inconvenience. But when it affects a medical issue, itâs unacceptable.
After a week of giving the program a fair shot, I decided to leave Against Medical Advice (AMA) I was falsely told I couldnât AMA on a weekend. I was told I had to stay at least 48 hours. BUT every time I asked to discharge or AMA no one would give me the paperwork. So trust issues were coming into play heavily with staff members.
My therapist said she would write down that I requested to leave on a Sunday, so I could be discharged on Tuesday. When I asked to sign the paperwork, she was supposedly was emailing it and would âdiscuss it Monday morning.â She also claimed she was calling my mother to communicate with her(who now had COVID), yet my mother had no record of these callsâexcept for one, when I first arrived. I was supposed to meet with her the previous day to discuss a discharge and she claimed she radioed for me to a tech, towards the end of the day mind you. No tech sought me out. By the time I was able to find her she was leaving for the day.
They all thought it was addiction and emotional symptoms. I pleaded with people to leave so I could rest and get on with getting better but was so physically tired and mentally exhausted that I was in a vegetive, Brain Fog state from a reaction to the surgery and not sleeping. I explained how this experience was giving me more anxiety and depression being there in a program than it would be at home. It was too much.
I hopped that wall at the facility. I listened to what my body was telling me when no one else would listen. What good is being sober and working on your mental health if your brain isn't functioning properly from a complication with a surgery?
Honesty gets you nowhere. Trust your sober thoughts.

I recently finished my second stay at the Recovery Team after experiencing a set back in my recovery. I was a little apprehensive about going back to TRT because I was ashamed of my relapse but Iâm so happy I did. The staff was so caring and loving with me, the Care Coordinators met me where I was at and we had a lot of fun together. They also changed the personal cell phone policy which made it easier to text and FaceTime my family every night.

I have enjoyed my time here. The team and the facility are very helpful in my recovery. I have extended my treatment here because it has helped me in many different ways. If I had a choice I would do it all over again.

Bright Futures is the place. If you are like me & need some sort of structure & stability in your life this is the place. The faculty, even the repair guys, everyone apart of this program helped me in some sort of way & made sure I kept doing the right thing. I wouldnât be the man/father I am today without the help from these people at bright futures. Al, Heather, Trish, Gina, Danielle, Ally (THE LIST GOES ON) are all people who put YOUR SOBRIETY & WELL BEING first in their work. Itâs clear to see & it is felt. Thank you to all the people at bright futures!

I highly recommend this facility for anyone seeking treatment.
I spent 30+ days here in 2021 and canât thank this organization and the people who work here enough. Without them I wouldnât be here today. They provided me with the proper guidance and the tools to stay sober and live a healthy lifestyle.
It would be remiss of me to not mention an individual by the name of Jon Poe. Jon has the biggest heart of anyone I know and he is extremely good at his job. He is the most selfless guy I know and keeps the clients health and wellbeing as his utmost priority. I can confidently say heâs been a huge influence on me and being able to turn my life around for the better.
Today, 3+ years later while traveling through town for a wedding, I was able to stop by the facility and Jon hasnât skipped a beat, blessing me with more wisdom and guidance that I didnât even know I needed.
The world needs more people like Jon and more treatment centers like TRT.

I had an excellent experience at the recovery team, from the techs to the group facilitators and therapists, they really make you feel like family and are always there for you anytime you need them. I never plan on going back to recovery in my life but if I ever did or recommend a center to someone, the recovery team is the place to go! The PHP is amazing, and while being in residential, you have a property full of amenities that make your stay even more worthwhile.

If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT go here. So many things happened to me here. I told the staff when I came in I didn't feel safe with another client, they are supposed to help with that but they sat idly by and watched as he got aggressive towards me, someone was supposed to be outside my room at night but the tech on duty was on her phone and the client was able to break into my room while I was asleep. They did nothing to help me. The housing conditions are horrible there was cockroaches in my building and worms in the mens building (mainly in their shower) there is also a mental health section and one of those clients snuck into my room almost the entire time I was there stealing my vapes, clothes, other things and even used my razor and then put it back like I wouldn't notice a dirty razor. I told staff they did nothing and watch OUT FOR THE HIGHER UP CALLED BRAD. All he does is lies to clients he was supposed to talk to me about the missing items and he never did he was supposed to help and replace everything that was taken BRAD DID NOT. He ignored me. I have never been treated this way they treated us like animals
