I had originally made an appointment to see him for services. One week before my appointment I was notified through my wife (who I was not currently living with and had not notified about the specifics of my appointment - I had not approved him to talk to my wife about my appointment or intentions to see him) that my appointment had been canceled. He had not confirmed with me or talked with me before canceling that he was not choosing to see me as a patient. I had to call him for confirmation that my appointment had been canceled and was rudely talked down on and accused of various things that he knew nothing about. He accused me and my wife of already seeing another counselor when that wasn't the case as he is the only counselor she has seen and we have not been with anyone else. He accused me of "gaming" the conversation and that I was being argumentative when I had only called him for clarification on if my appointment being canceled was true and why. He spoke very rudely and unprofessional to both me and my wife. Would not recommend as his only priority is the cash and not the wellbeing of the patient. He is combative when approached about things that are not under his control.

We've been with Jeff for over a year and have made some serious progress in personal and social problems. He knows how to pin down behaviors as cause and effect and look at situations from another perspective. We do check-ins with him now to make sure we are keeping up with our goals we set with each other and with him. It's good to be down to earth and hear things as they really are. I highly recommend Jeff.

Similar to other reviews Mr. Troutman spent most of the session worrying about billing and did not guide the session professionally. He had absolutely no interest is speaking to us and no desire to help us. While discussing our situation we had mentioned that we were in a crisis situation desiring to do all that we could for some help and that I had scheduled an appointment with a personal counselor to deal with individual issues and that he was someone that my husband and I wanted to see together as a couple for marriage counseling. After he found out that I had my own personal counselor and I explained why, he told me that I was an “irrational thinker” and by having two counselors and “counselor shopping” I was going to “screw one of them out of money”. I work in the healthcare industry and my colleagues (who are psychiatrist, mind you) say that this is a smart/common practice to receive individual counseling and have a marriage counselor separate. Upon wrapping up our session which ended abruptly after his inappropriate comments, he once again mentioned how he will be charging our insurance. All he cared about was money. I would happily pay good money for a professional, but this man was far from it. I did report him to all of the regulatory boards as well as the church in which he is affiliated with to be removed from their referral platform. This is not the first time he had been reported for similar acts. This is a dangerous man to anyone who may be struggling with their mental health. It is very unfortunate that this is a man our veterans have worked with. I hope and pray that he practices better with others and has never treated anyone else the way that he treated us. Also, a whole year later and my husband and I are thriving as individuals and as a couple.

Horrible experience. Mr. Troutman's priority is payment!
Not only did he cut my initial session short by more than 20 minutes, 10 minutes into the session he asked me for my insurance card. He should have vetted his billing questions and issues prior to starting the session. Especially when I completed his online intake forms providing him with all the requested insurance details and purpose/reasons for my visit.

He began the second session more than 15 minutes late, AND that entire second session was oriented around his method of billing and payment to ensure that he was compensated for his time. Billing issues should be handled on HIS time, NOT that of the clients. During this visit I expressed financial responsibility concerns and that I was not willing to pay for a session that was of no benefit. I expressed my frustration with his time management and that I understood that it sometimes take several visits to work up to the point of being able to offer valuable assistance.

Of the entire 60 minutes that I spent in his office I received no actual benefit other than an increase in anxiety, frustration, and disappointment. I even told him that I did not want to pay for the 2nd visit because it was not to my benefit. He has charged me over $1 per minute. He's not a doctor. He's a social worker. His demeanor is lazy, sloppy and undisciplined. His full time, day job is counseling our veterans. I hope that he serves them better.

My 16 year old teen and I have been seeing Mr. Troutman and we really like his approach. He has been teaching my teen to approach problems in a resonable and logical way. He has been helping me to be a more successful parent by utilizing the "Love and Logic" principles. My teen and I have seen an improvement in our relationship with far less stress and increased feelings of peace and love between us. The best part is Mr. Troutman has a wonderful sense of humor and my teen looks forward to her sessions. He is wise, calming and we can't say enough about our positive experience.
