Valerie's House is such an amazing and unique program. It is such a wonderful service and tool for community members who have suffered a loss to utilize. They offer specialized programs for children and family members to help cope with the loss and help process grief. I am a mentor for Valerie's house. This experience has been very rewarding and life changing for me as well.

I found Valerie’s House while looking into resources for my son who lost his father when he was very young and began asking questions I wasn’t sure how to answer. I was worried since we were so far from the incident he may not relate to the other children or fit in but still went for a tour. From the moment we first walked in those worries disappeared. He found other children with similar stories and no longer felt alone. The staff are some of the sweetest and most caring individuals I’ve ever met. You can tell that everyone genuinely loves what they do and the people they are helping. He has attended events from week night groups, community outings and even the summer camp option this year- each enjoyable and healing.

As a parent- they also offer a parent group on the night your child meets. I thought I had processed all the trauma from my husband tragically passing but sharing with other parents who have experienced similar tragedies has also helped me tremendously. I have grown and healed through my experience and feel better seeing his improvement.

I have verbally recommended this organization more times than I can count and will continue to do so. They provide a safe place for a group of children you never want to join but are so blessed to have if needed.

We have been a part of the Valerie's House family since 2021 when I lost my son and my grandsons lost their Dad. This non profit charity provides a safe and loving "home" for our children to learn about and how to deal with the emotional trauma of losing a special someone. Our group meets ever 2 weeks and while the kids go into their group, the caregivers of these children go into their group for emotional and educational support. I'm not sure how I would have managed the last 3 yrs without them.
