Westport College Prep is filling what was a gaping hole in post-secondary programming for students with learning differences. This community very much needed a local, day program designed to help further educational, social, life and community participation skills in preparation for college or meaningful employment after high school. Their curriculum and offerings are thoughtful, individualized and expansive. The Director, Lauren McBeth, is a dedicated and dynamic educator and leader with a clear vision of what our kids need to be successful in every aspect of their lives. As an Independent Educational Consultant, I am so grateful to have this incredible program to recommend to my students.

Westport College Prep has been a wonderful program for our son Alex. He was not ready for college after high school, but his dream is to attend college. WCP has been the perfect transitional program. The amazing staff, especially Lauren McBeth, have provided such individualized support that have helped Alex prepare to do college level work. I also appreciate that they contact me when they have any concerns or suggestions in helping Alex to succeed. I would recommend Westport College Prep to any family looking for a transitional program.

Westport Live was a true gem to find to fill a need for my newly diagnosed daughter with autism spectrum disorder. All of the added challenges of Covid-19 distance learning before high school graduation provided one silver lining. We were able to access this program 1/2 way across the country! This program worked on specific executive function skills through the coursework, internships, and academic coaching. Dual enrollment with Landmark College was so helpful to apply her emerging skills as well as engage her in higher level work. Staff was there to address challenges and/or barriers very efficiently and effectively to make her first college experience a positive one! I was impressed at how meaningful the internship experience was for her. I was pleased to observe her take on the responsibilities of management of her more varied schedule. My daughter is enrolled at a 4 year college in the fall and has the skills and the perseverance to start with confidence! She has the self awareness of things she needs to be successful in the college setting, and the ability to advocate effectively for herself.

For our daughter this is exactly what we were looking for! A program that engages my transition aged daughter with a strong emphasis on academics and building socials skills…and is close to home. Lauren McBeth is a dream! She listens to all our concerns and has a “can do” attitude that we didn’t see in other programs. Westport College Prep is the best kept secret in Fairfield County. I’m so glad we found it when we did because it really is a great fit for my girl!

WCP has filled a gap that has long existed for 18–22 year old young adults. They do a great job working with young adults and their parents to provide an individualized education plan. They meet the student where the student is at and don't force an end to traditional academics if a student can still benefit from it. In keeping with the purpose of the IDEA, Its focus is to help young adults with further education, employment, and independent living. WCP is substance over form.
