I had Alyssa Shaffer as my therapist, and it was a disappointing experience. Despite being told she was good, I was not satisfied after four months. She promised to email me follow-up information from our sessions but never did. She repeatedly asked me the same questions, like “how did it make me feel,” without providing any real help. During our EDMR sessions, I felt awkward and like it was just a way for her to pass the time. She mentioned she was transferring and assured me she would provide a list of new therapists, but she never did. After my last visit, I followed up with a question and received no response. I felt she didn’t fulfill her role as a therapist, and I ended up feeling like I wasted my time, money, and mental health.
