The VA suggested Gulf Shores since my therapist no longer saw patients in person.
I’ve been seeing Phil H. Since last August. After my first meeting with him, I knew I was with the right person to help. I was in an abusive narcissistic relationship that had taken total control. He has helped me work through all that ugliness and fear. He’s kind, caring and guides me to my new self of living in strength and freedom.

I have been lucky, in that the VA sent me outside of their closed system to see one of the counselors here at the practice. His name is Phil H. He is simply one of the best "psyche" people I have ever spoken to, and I am 62 years old. He is attentive to your needs and helps you work your own puzzle to find solutions to everyday problems and the puzzle of the path that we call life. He listens... talks about whatever is own your mind...and is empathetic. I appreciate his guidance.

I have been seeing Phil Hendra for the past year
for trauma therapy. I am so impressed with the progress I have made; unlike the last thirty years! My past experiences with counselors was so discouraging; I felt like I was making no progress. I would share feelings; but, I didn’t feel heard or assisted in overcoming my traumatic experiences. Under Phil’s care; I feel heard! Gulf shores counseling is top notch in their therapy, support and availability. They have many methods of support and are reasonably priced. Connie is amazing and very caring. I highly recommend Gulf Shores for any needs at any age.

2/3 appointments were not kept and rescheduled. I was told my social worker left the practice and I was not even contacted in my preferred communication agreements to ensure I knew before my agreed upon monthly session was due. They were absolutely insensitive about my feelings and told me there was not another therapist in their practice to take me in an email with someone I am not aware of who they even are attached. They showed no interest in helping me or directing me on finding and transitioning to a new therapist so I will return to my insurance who referred them to me.
My insurance CMs were also not impressed with the rescheduling with out a solid explanation. They did not feel my concerns were irrational. Standard expectations of availability in a 9-5 practice with no outside hours as to “help” needed were not met nor reasonably communicated.

I hope it improves.
