We hired Jennifer to assist our child through a rough patch. When we signed up we were made aware of what was a very strict no show policy; if you miss an appointment without 24hr notice she charges the $60 fee anyway. We were desperate to get immediate help for our child and signed. Having said that, my husband and I work full time jobs and on 1 occasion I was stuck in Lakeland I’m traffic; called her receptionist and let her know there was no way I was going to get there...fee assessed. On another occasion my husband assumed I was taking our child and vice versa (clearly we were at fault)....fee assessed. Now at $120.00 in fees, I reached out via email to ask if she would be willing to work with us on those fees. Obviously we were aware of the policy but asked for consideration....the response received back was shocking, degrading and downright unprofessional!
The therapy was with our child not my Husband and I; in Jennifer’s response she made several statements that were based on her therapy sessions with our child (breaking privilege). Jennifer stated that “based on your family’s financial situation you should have no problem paying the fees...” further she said “...besides I know your Mom (our child’s grandmother) paid for his summer camp so you should be able to pay the fees”.....let me also state that she REQUIRED us to book and commit to 6 weeks of appointments for our child or he was “dismissed from the practice”....
Allow me to clarify something...at NO time was my family’s “financial situation” ever discussed with Ms. Suiters nor was the alleged payment of a camp by my child’s Grandmother (which btw was NOT the case, he was looking to attend 2 summer camps...1 that my husband and I paid for and the other was one his grandmother wanted to pay for but the camp sold out). Let me also state that Ms. Suiters had to cancel one of our child’s scheduled appointments last minute but we weren’t offered a “credit” we simply understood and moved the appointment.

It’s unfortunate that Jennifer Suiters clearly places monetary value ahead of her patients needs. Further it’s concerning that someone of her credentials not only broke confidentiality with our child but she assumed our financial status and used that as a basis not to work with us on the fees. Her tone in written correspondence was passive aggressive, unnecessary and unprofessional. I have advised my health insurance carrier of this providers actions and have paid all “fees” to her.

If you’re looking to do business with this provider proceed with caution and as with all mental health professionals; do your homework.
